Our Mission

Our Mission Is to Build the Future of Food Businesses

At NHFC, our mission is simple — to empower Canada’s food and hospitality entrepreneurs with the tools, knowledge and resources to succeed.

Highest success rate

We maintain one of the highest project success rates in the industry by combining expert planning, precise execution and a partner network that has built these rooms before.

Built for your customers

We do not just design and build spaces. We create experiences that reflect your brand, move your kitchen efficiently and serve your customers from day one.

One accountable partner

Design, permits, construction and equipment under a single contract and one project manager. Nobody gets to blame another vendor, because there is not one.

Honest from the first call

If the space, the budget or the concept does not work, we will tell you in the free consultation rather than after six weeks of billable drawings.

Our Process

Four stages. One point of contact.

You always know which stage you are in, what is happening next and who to call about it.

  1. 011–3 weeks

    Discover

We review the site, the lease, the zoning and the concept before anything is drawn. You get an honest read on whether it works — including the version where the answer is no.

  2. 023–5 weeks

    Design

Full architectural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical drawings, coordinated against the actual equipment package and built to satisfy plan review the first time.

  3. 038–16 weeks

    Build

One project manager owns the site — trades, schedule, deliveries and the inspection sequence — while you keep running your business.

  4. 041–2 weeks

    Deliver

Equipment commissioned, deficiencies closed, final inspections passed and occupancy in hand. We stay available after the doors open.

Before You Sign: Choosing a Space for a Food Business in Ontario

The unit you sign decides most of your budget before a single drawing exists. Here is what to check on site, what to ask the landlord, and the lease clauses that cost operators the most money.

Planning

Opening a Restaurant in Ontario: The Complete Timeline

Every phase of an Ontario restaurant project, what runs in parallel, who is involved, where the money goes out, and the points where schedules realistically slip.

Compliance

Restaurant Permits in Ontario: Every Approval, in Order

An Ontario restaurant answers to the building department, the public health unit, the fire code, the electrical and gas regimes, the city's licensing office and, if it serves alcohol, the AGCO. Here is each approval, who issues it, and where it falls in the project.

Mechanical

Commercial Kitchen Ventilation, Explained

Hood type, exhaust volume, make-up air, fire suppression and the route to the roof. Why ventilation is usually the largest single mechanical cost in a food buildout, and what decisions move it.

Grocery

Opening a Grocery Store in Ontario

Grocery buildouts are a refrigeration and layout problem before they are a construction problem. What drives the budget, what the departments add, and where independent operators most often get caught.

Café & Bakery

Opening a Café or Bakery in Ontario

Cafés and bakeries are cheaper to build than restaurants, but only if the menu stays on the right side of one line. Cross it and you inherit a restaurant's mechanical budget without a restaurant's covers.
